If you’re new to the game, The Weekend Edition is where I informally retell my weekly happenings as they relate to travel, culture, and entertainment.
It’s been straight up gorgeous in Portland this week and I’ve been joking that everyone is finally starting to come out of hibernation to do fun things in the sun. Here’s a sprinkling of goings-on from my week:
Gushed over the Outside Lands Lineup
I also made this playlist. Some people make fantasy football rosters; I make my fantasy music festival lineup. Bands I would most like to see at Outside Lands 2014: The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Atmosphere, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (again), CHVRCES, Capital Cities, Local Natives, John Butler Trio, Mikal Cronin, Vance Joy and basically everyone else on the lineup. Check out my West Coast music festival primer for the lowdown on all the fests this summer.
Played around with my film camera
I’m in between dSLR cameras at the moment so it’s been fun to play with film again. No matter how skilled you are at film photography it’s always a bit of a gamble, and sometimes in ways you didn't anticipate. This week I accidentally sent my film from Oswald State Park on a trip through the wash. Luckily, I always put my used film back in the canister so it might have been saved. Fingers crossed.
Mingled with other Portland bloggers over brunch
The always lovely Rachel of love, Rachel and Jane of In the Pink and Green hosted a beauty brunch for a group of Portland area bloggers. As a new kid on the blogging scene it was so great to catch up and meet other bloggers. Check out Kelsey’s great pictures of the event on Ladies in Navy. Thanks Jane and Rachel!
Wandered through the Portland Japanese Garden
To relax and enjoy the last bit of Sunday, my friends and I decided to wander through the Portland Japanese Garden. The cherry blossoms are in bloom and everything was dripping in beautiful, golden hour light. It was the perfect way to pause and cap a quiet Sunday on an otherwise whirlwind of a weekend.
As always, thanks for all of your love and support over the past few weeks as The Paper Airplane takes off the ground. Feel free to reach out in the comments and via social.
